Phonography #56
Well, here it is, the last weekly Phonography! It's been a year and a month and it seems like a good time for me to bring the project to a close. It's bittersweet I suppose as I have really loved *meeting* new people from all over the world and being introduced to some blogs I otherwise would not have found. But I think it's time. When I started this project I was looking for a new kind of inspiration and wanted to dedicate myself to a new project, a new practice. These weekly Phonography links opened my eyes to a lot of things including new ways to edit and shoot. So I feel very grateful. A very big thank you to everyone who has linked up over the last year!! Thanks for being a part of that inspiration.
I am going to keep my Phonography Page up with all the past links open to peruse. I think I may make a book of all my past posts as a nice memento as well. Yes, all good things must come to an end and even though it feels a bit odd {and maybe a little sad} I am excited to take this energy and focus it towards some new and exciting projects. Coincidentally my 365 project has just come to a close as well. I feel like these daily and weekly creative dedications are so valuable though that I am already starting to work on some new ones with a refreshed vigor. But more on those later. For now, I will just say as I usually do, I look forward to seeing where you have been this week. Again, thanks to all of you who have commented, supported, and participated in the project. I hope I will continue to see you around here soon.

So now, Phonography #56! For this round I thought I would end with some edits I did while driving home from vacation. Having the phone is an excellent way to kill a 6 hour car ride!
I really liked some of the results so thought now would be an appropriate time to show off some apps that make fun possible. I used a few different ones including Blender, PictureShow, Hipstamatic, Percolator, and the Photoshop app. I will be leaving this linky open through this coming weekend and as usual, not really any rules besides your image being from a phone.
Happy shooting!
A little late posting this week...still not really back in the groove of routine. We say so-long to more family today, it's bittersweet {or maybe just a little bitter}. Funny but I didn't take too many images this last week with my phone. It's been awhile since that happened. I don't think these are the best shots I have ever taken with my phone however they do hold nice memories from vacation. Going around from the top left image: Palm tree with a new moon, watching the sun meet the ocean, our mode of transport for the week, and the marsh. Ahhhhh... South Carolina's tag line should be "South Carolina: It's beautiful here."
And speaking of the last hurrah, this is the second to last weekly Phonography link-up so get it while you can! I look forward to seeing your shots from the week.
Phonography #54
I'm still enjoying a great time with the family so I will keep things brief. Welcome to this week's Phonography! If you would like to know more or see other images you can do so here.

Only two more Phonography link ups. Join in the fun while you can!

Studies in Light
Thanks for visiting this week's Phonography. Link up here with your favorite cell shot(s)! {Care to know more?} This being August Break I will keep things brief... Here are shots, all taken with an iPhone using Hipstamatic, from more house hunting {yes, still hunting}, shots from the road, downtown, from under glass and through blinds... This week's theme running through my mind has been all about light. I look forward to seeing what was on your mind this week!
Phonography #52
Continuing with the August Break rules I won't do a lot of chit-chatting today but I do want to let all the newcomers know that if you would like to join in this week's Phonography please do! More info here.
These images were all taken outside a very strange store in the very strange city of Gatlinburg, TN. I guess it's not that strange; it's just a place where I feel a bit out of my element. No, I take that back...it's
Image info: These shots were all taken with an iPhone using the Hipstamatic. They were assembled together using PicFrame.
I look forward to seeing what strange and endearing things you and your phone have been up to this week!

Phonography #48
While taking a detour the other day, my husband and I stumbled onto the coolest alley way. I can't believe I haven't ever used it for some sort of project yet! Even though in the heart of the Old City (the old downtown) and passing by this area all the time I never spotted these breezeways nor the cleaned up alley way (which I hear wasn't always so safe and clean). I will definitely be going back for more shots. I love finding new little photo spots so close to home!
Although these were all snapped with my iPhone using good 'ol Hipstamatic, I assembled them into an animated gif so you could discover the alley as I did. Won't you take a journey with me?? You can link up below with your cell shot of the week...not a lot of rules but to learn more you can click here. Thanks for playing and look forward to seeing your shot(s)!Speaking of playing, why not join in this week's Phonography link up. You can link up here through the end of Friday. Like to know more first? Look forward to seeing where you have been hiding this week!

For this week's shots I decided to go with my submission for this next round of the ACoLab (Theme: Space, due on the 5th of July).
I actually had a few other images I had worked on and liked but then while having a pizza the other day shot this shot of the table. The way the light reflected off the surface resembled the glow of a moon or planet... perhaps because the theme of "Space" was on my mind. But I took this image and increased the contrast (I can't remember what app I used for that) and added some more color via PictureShow.
After that I used WordFoto and adjusted the settings and saturation levels.
For the first image I also used Labelbox. {Thanks Adrienne!} It's a pretty limited app but it's free and nice for little touches here and there. It's a little extra eye candy.
Would also like to thank Urban Muser for turning me on to iPhoneArt online. It's quite a wealth of inspiration and beautiful imagery. You can look me up here should you like to check it out.
So there's the Phonography week in a nutshell. I'd love to see what you and your

Welcome to this week's Phonography. With the storms we have had I feel lucky to have made it here myself! Link here with your favorite cell shot(s) of the week! You can check out more here and read more about this link-up. There aren't many rules, just make sure your image was taken with a phone.
I stumbled onto a new app this week called KaleidaCam. This is one of those programs that enables one to create a really interesting piece of art at the drop of a hat! I started snapping away giddily and then tried to really figure out how the program worked. I am all for a program that offers great results no matter what you point your camera at but I also like to know how it works to try an manipulate or craft an idea to fruition, you know?
But this app is simple to use and can yield some beautiful ideas. This one to the left is one of the first shots I took. See? The design just works even when you don't know what you are going to get! Part of the joy of something like this is working with it after the shot is taken. I think I may work with some color blocking with this shot. But since I am still on my circular kick I made the image below. No, not in camera but remember, not big on
Love to see what you and your phone have been up to this week! Link will be open until midnight Friday (EST).
Phonography #44
Wow, 44 weeks of Phonography! I was excited to meet a few new bloggers through last week's link up. Be sure to check them out if you haven't already, you will be glad you did! Link up here with your favorite cell shot from any kind of phone. If you would like to read more or see more about Phonography please click here.
For this week's shot I used a few apps that are new to me. It looks like a Hipstamatic shot but this was actually taken with Cameramatic then processed with PictureShow. I added the text using Phonto. If I may geek out for just a second.... the Cameramatic is a nice app. It's hard to compete with Hipstamatic but it does have some additional lighting preferences as well as a variety of frames to choose from.

I was out and about for Father's Day and since my husbands father lives almost an hour away I was able to take advantage of the time to experiment a bit. Below: Cameramatic and Hipstamatic w/ Diptych.
Look forward to seeing your shot(s) from the week! Thanks for stopping by!
Phonography #43
I am still hooked on the app that Courtney turned me onto, Word Foto. It was exactly what I needed to express the afternoon I had last Sunday and I had a lot of fun experimenting so I thought I would show some of the capabilities the app has offered me thus far.
You can see that by altering little contrast/brightness tweaks here and there you can get a pretty dramatic difference.
I am loving it... I look forward to seeing how your cell inspired you this week!

I look forward to seeing your shots!
Phonography #41 - Spaced Out
I was just sitting in my living room having some lunch with my little one and was thinking about getting back into our routine...planning things out. Then, it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't posted or thought about posting this week's Phonography link up. I totally spaced out. So...since I did space out I thought about this image I created in the phone last week. Pretty spacey, eh? I quite like it. But I like these other two versions as well. The blue one may be my favorite...
I used Tiny Planet, Picture Show, and Diptych to create all of these.
If you would like to participate just link up below. Care to know more? You can check out the Phonography Page. Not many rules, only that your shot be from a phone, any kind. Look forward to seeing your shots! (Link-up will be open until midnight Friday) Thanks for playing!

Phonography #39
It's been a week full of arrows. For some reason they have been catching my eye (and my fancy) all over the place! I linked this shot the other day with Courtney's weekend cell link up. It seemed appropriate while we were on another round of house hunting. It's almost comical at this point. But it does seem like a lot more listings are popping up lately so that gives us hope.
Onto Phonography... Link up here with your favorite shot(s) of the week. The only rule is that your shot be taken with a cell phone, any kind. If you would like to read more or see other rounds you can visit the Phonography page. Look forward to seeing your shots!

This week I decided to use a few from our latest round of house hunting. We found one winner again and a few losers but I am having fun seeing all sorts of possibilities as well as having my mind blown by some treasures. My favorite shot from this round? Check out this portrait from a Victorian bachelor pad...awesome. I found it hard to concentrate on the house and look past the piles of dirty laundry, beer paraphernalia, portraits of these three, and the stench of teenage boys. I don't think parents lived here, just college folk. And I guess they are related to take a portrait like this but I don't really know. I choose to believe they are not related and just wanted to pose like this. It was the kind of house that makes it more like an investigation into figuring out the people than the place. Too bad too because I bet the house was pretty in its day. Now it reminded me of a place I would rent or visit in my early twenties. For all of you selling your house please don't get creeped out that there are people like me lurking around your house looking at all your stuff. I am considerate but I can't help but take a few photos either. It's better than touching right?? I guess that could be debated now that the bachelors are on the Internet. Ahhh well, I could do much worse. I guess when I show up and know immediately we aren't going to like the place it's a matter of a quick look around and bye-bye.
P.S. This image is, however, in some stiff competition with the image above of the man with the Siamese cat, priceless.
Phonography & Sharing May
Welcome to this week's Phonography link up, round #37! Hope your week was a good one. Oddly, I didn't do much shooting with my phone this week. Should I feel ashamed that I let my phone die on two different days?? That's very unlike me. I guess without the use of the Internet for a few days I decided to shut off from technology for a bit and take a little break from feeling plugged in. Although it was a really nice feeling once I accepted it I have to admit that I feel a little behind the times in some areas of my life. But feeling good nonetheless. This shot above is another one of the spot I mentioned yesterday, a wedding site a friend of mine picked. It really is one of the prettiest places I have been to in the Smokies and so perfect for her. The relaxed atmosphere, the barn, the large, vast layout of the land all with a view of the Smokies...it really is so fitting for them. So, Phonography- join in! You can use the linky below and link up to your post with a hyperlink or the button. Should you like to know more just click on the Phonography page. I really look forward to seeing where life has taken you this week. This link will be open until midnight Friday (EST). Happy Tuesday!

Also, better late than never! Here is this month's calendar. It will fit right into a cd case (There are some examples of this on the Me to You page. Just click on the image and save it to your computer...free for you to use. Hope you like it!
Oh, I am also planning on showing how I made that shot some of you were curious about tomorrow so check on back if you are interested. I did the same process for this image on the calendar. It's actually a really big cheat but I have figured out a way, albeit much more complicated, in Photoshop to create something similar. It's all a matter of having the right software really. But I will show you how I made the image and some other possibilities the software can offer. Until then...

I look forward to seeing where you have been this week. My shot is from house hunting. I find that I get more shots from the houses I don't like than from the ones...okay, one that I do. I do look forward to taking these shots though. Having my phone makes house hunting so much more!
Happy Tuesday to you!

You can visit the Phonography Page should you care to read more...really, no rules, just link up using the linky below and feel free to use the button or link back with a good ol-fashioned hyperlink. Look forward to seeing where you've been this week!Oh, couple of somewhat related and exciting things- I recently read a rumor (good enough source for me to get excited by) about the next iPhone having an 8 mega pixel camera! Also, just made a new Internet friend, Jenni. I met Jenni through the Female Photographers of Etsy for a photo swap. Jenni loves all cameras but has a special affinity for Lo-fi analog cameras and for her phone. Check out her blog, Flickr and her shop. You will love seeing what she has made using her iPhone and other plastic and "toy" cameras. I'm a sucker for a Holga photo! Really, check her out! Jenni wrote the nicest write up about me I think I have ever read. It really meant a lot to me that she got where I am coming from and could convey in just a short paragraph what my whole intention for creating art is...really made me feel great. I just love how art and ideas can bring people together. So, thanks to Jenni for making my week and without further ado, this week's image. Yes, this is similar to the shot I used the other day but I did some more experimenting so...
Happy Tuesday!
Phonography #31
The weekend wasn't what I imagined it would be...wait, is it Tuesday?! Okay, the last few days were not what I thought they would be. I envisioned me working a lot more finishing up some big projects with deadlines so I could get back into the swing of my routine...not so much. In fact, zero, nada, not one second on projects. I was in bed by nine last night (yay)! Not really complaining as much as sharing... Gotta say, big props to all of you single mothers out there! Really. There needs to be a special medal...or money. Yes, someone needs to give you large amounts of money...no, time...you earn more time! My husband was away for the weekend and the baby was under the weather. It's usually a little more work when Doug is away but these last few days since the baby has been a bit "out of sorts" have taken every second. I did manage to squeeze in a nice Spring walk with a friend and Twila in (an out, then in, then out, then in...) a wagon, and a wedding! So, like I said, not complaining even though it may sound like that... it's just been a very busy few days. So, here are some shots from the last few days, all shots from my phone since today is Tuesday after all...Phonography time! Look forward to seeing how you spent the first days of Spring! Or Fall (depending on where you are). Care to learn more about Phonography? The link will be open until midnight Friday (EST). Happy snapping!
Fun swinging and Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall...at the Pediatrician's office.

What put a huge smile on my face? Well, the other night I turned off some Backyardigans and turned on some Mork & Mindy. I think I scared Doug with how happy M&M made me. I was in the other room while he was with the baby and he let me know it was on.
"What episode is it?" I asked.
"It's called... 'Mork vs the Necrotons' ?"
"What?!! Put it on!" I remembered the episode. It was just as I remembered. I would have been four or five when it aired and maybe that's why it was a lot cornier than I remember but I remembered correctly that this episode was totally odd (more so than usual) and pretty overtly sexual (What makes me say that?). It was such a thrill to see it 30 some years later...didn't even know the show was running again. So, this episode, for those of you who aren't complete geeks, (and come to think of it I am making myself sound pret-ty cool right now aren't I?) is the episode with Raquel Welch as an alien who wants to off Mindy and keep Mork for herself...remember the scene with Mindy held hostage in a bird cage?? C'mon! They don't write shows like this anymore!

I look forward to seeing your shots! My photos for this week are from a beautiful drive home (I was in the passenger seat). Spring showed itself this last week and almost every night there was a beautiful sunset. It's so nice to have the weather brighten up a bit.
I did some experimenting with the image below, on the left and came up with the one on the right. To me it looks like some futuristic building or a very tall computer. The windshield wiper made for some great lines.

Phonography #19
Welcome to this week's Phonography. For more information or to see any previous posts you can click here. Basically if you have an image from a phone you would like to link up with, this is the place!I decided once again to link up to Paper Heart Camera's Touch Up Tuesday. I always learn something when perusing the images in that link-up. If you like to learn about photo editing and texture tricks you should check it out.
I suppose most of the editing for this image was done in phone but I also used PS to edit the final image.
The image started here. Nothing special right?? It's blurry but I like the pose. This is the SOOC image.
First I mirrored the image in Picture Show.
Then I adjusted the color tones using the same app.
Although I like these I felt like I could do something more with the image.
Using Iris, I added two different Grunge textures, a surface layer, and also an antique texture (the font layer). When I remembered that I could use the "old book" texture (the font layer) I was excited to touch it up a bit. I added that level once again and lowered the opacity. I think that the script really creates a nice feel and story for the image; suddenly the image has a narrative.
Comfortable with the actual image, I decided to hone the image using my PC and Photoshop. I removed the black spots from the textures. I adjusted the levels and the contrast. I also increased the vignetting using the "selective color". This is something I stumbled onto recently. You can use the selective color to deepen certain tones within each color. It's subtle sometimes and drastic in others...it's flexible and makes a nice difference in the image.
Here is the before and after.

On the ninth day of the Countdown
my Santa gave to me...This week's Phonography Post!
If you have any questions please click here.
Since we are still in the midst of the 12 Days of Santa (this is harder than the creepy countdown by the way and in the blogging sense I am looking forward to day 13 if you know what I mean...) I chose a themed photo. Although I have some shots that I really like from my phone I think that these are more appropriate. Should you like to see any other images please hop on over to my Flickr account (link on the right sidebar).
Ok, you know the stores that hire people to stand in a costume outside their shop waving a sign to get people's attention and lure them into their shop? Well, the other day I saw something even more effective at grabbing my attention. In fact, every time I have passed by the shop I was a little startled. Strangely, more effective than a live human dressed up as a sun or as Uncle Sam frantically waving a sign in my face, is a lifeless mannequin. This one is so creepy I hesitate to write how freaky it is with fears that it may come and hunt me down in my sleep.
But when driving 40 mph down the road I couldn't ever tell if it was a real person or not. So, their marketing worked. The other day I had to drive back, park in the parking lot, and admire someone's craftiness.
It's a nice example of how Santa is exploited for anyone's marketing needs. Don't you think? (Check out #3 of this post!) This is a title check company - you bring in the title to your car, they give you money. I am particularly fond of the huge tower of money with a bow on it. (If we're talkin' scale here it's at least two times bigger than Santa's sleigh, that's HUGE!)
Strangely, it never occurred to me that it was a Santa or Christmas related ploy. I thought the mannequin was a jester. I guess the green and red was a tip off.
I couldn't help but play around with this image a bit... it makes more sense don't you agree?
Then there's this version.
Ahhhhh...
Hope to see you back here with your favorite phone shots. You can link back from your blog or Flickr url. Have a nice day!

Welcome to this week's Phonography! This is the place to link up an image from a phone, any phone! The linky is below and will be open through Friday. You can edit your image however you would like in phone or out. Please link back to this post so we can all enjoy your photo. Hope to see you back here!
I am also taking this opportunity to link up with Paper Heart Camera's weekly link up for before and after images. You can submit your own image or see the rest of the submissions here.
I took this photo the other day while listening to my father and mother in law sing in their choir. I love the bold colors.
I started with this SOOC image taken with my iPhone and the Hipstamatic app.
I then used the Picture Show app to mirror the image.
Then I used Lo-Mob to add a frame and pump up the saturation a bit. I also added a bit more yellow to the red tones. Voila!

Speaking of Christmas and winter-y wishes, I will be starting a 12 days of Christmas (kind of like the creepy countdown but a bit more festive) on Monday the 13th. It will be full of holiday spirit and a lot of Santa. I am quite excited to share as there are a few guest posts for these days that made me laugh, a lot! If you have a Santa/festive story to share please do contact me! I think these guest posts are going to be the highlight. Thanks to Brandy-Son for the inspiration! It's ironic that the anti-holiday woman would be responsible for these festive feelings in me! Ha!
If you have an image from your phone you would like to link up please do! The only rules are that your image be from a phone (you can edit however you would like to) and that you link back to this site so we can all see your image. Hope to see you back here! The linky will be open through Friday.
Phonography #15
Hi and welcome to this week's Phonography. I decided to do something a bit different this week and also use this post as my link up to Paper Heart Camera's Touch Up Tuesday. But keeping in the spirit of Phonography I only edited in phone. But if you are reading this and have an image taken with your phone that you would like to share please link up! The only rule is that your image be from a phone. You can edit your image however you would like to. Please also link back here so we can all enjoy in your masterpiece.
So on to the touch-up...
First, I took this image. I didn't use an app to take the photo because I wanted to shoot in lower light.
Then using the Picture Show app I enhanced the color a bit and added another exposure.
I also tried it without color. I like this but had something else in mind...perhaps I will use this later for another project.I then used the Crop Free app and the Photoshop app to rotate the image. I then went back to Picture Show and mirrored the image and adjusted the color a bit. I liked it but did these two steps again to use the other side of the image which I thought had some interesting details. Here are those two images.

I still think it's incredible that all this fun editing can be done just using my phone. If you have an image you would like to link up with please do! The linky will be up through Friday. And if you would like to see any other edited images (always something interesting to learn about) please visit Touch Up Tuesday.

Phonography #12
Whew! I've gotten all caught up in editing today. I think it's time to get off the computer for the day but I don't want to forget about this week's Phonography! Please link up your favorite(s) images taken with your phone. That's it for the rules-just a photo from your cell. Also please link back so we can all enjoy in your fabulous images. Quite an exciting week with the iPhone as The Hipstamatic app just added a new profile - A Dali Surreal profile.
The photo above was taken with the new Hipstamatic setting. This one is the same image just edited in other software. Like I said, I am an editing freak lately! The linky will be up until the end of Friday. Thanks for playing!
Special thanks to Joanna for introducing me to a new app this week...here is the shot I took with the Infinicam. Just when you think Halloween is over you find a coffin on the sidewalk. We were walking to dinner and just walked right passed it. You gotta love a town that you can find little photo treasures like this. I look forward to seeing what treasures you found this week!
