Good Old-New Beginnings

This has been the longest break I have ever had from Pasando since I started blogging.  But my blog, like me, hates excuses.  So I'll just get on with it...  Life is good, busy like with everyone this time of year.  I have put the breaks on a lot of projects because I really wanted to focus on making my daughter the center of my attention.  It was our first Christmas in the new house...really, it was our first real holiday season.  She's old enough now to enjoy new traditions, the feeling Winter brings, Christmas decorations, and Santa!  It's been a lot of fun.   She's just growing so fast...changing, evolving.  I don't want to miss any of it.  But you know, what I realize is that through blogging and photography I am able to hold on to that feeling a little longer.  Without blogging some of those files are sitting dormant on my computer once again.  Honestly, I just miss blogging.  It's a great catalyst.

Although I am not one for waiting for the new year to start my resolutions it is kind of empowering to make a new yearly list of things I hope to accomplish.  It's funny but many of my "goals" are similar to ones from a few years ago: photography goals, writing goals, spending more time here, and balance.  Oh I how I long to find balance.  My all-or-nothing personality is needing to evolve into something else.  I just haven't figured out the tools yet to do so.  Maybe 2013 will offer up some wisdom!  I'm thinking of ways to live with all the priorities in my life and do them in a way that still feels enjoyable, relaxing, and natural...to do them with integrity.  I'm excited!

Mary Shelly once said, "The beginning is always today."  Pretty, don't you think?  And quite appropriate for the new year!  The beginning is always now.  We can make mistakes, learn something new, see something in a new way... it's a nice way to live without regret and look forward to another experience.  It's positive and I like that.  A very happy new year to everyone!  May 2013 bring you the best of everything!

I'm looking forward to 2013 too and the beginning is always today is such a wonderful quote that I think I might make it mine too (if you don't mind).

I was in Seattle with Dawn and Jen for New Years and we all picked a word for 2013. Barak picked steps, Dawn- adventure, Jen- truth and what word did I pick? Not balance, which was what I have been journaling about for the past couple of weeks. No, I picked zany! Happy New Year!
