It's been a very long time since I last worked with textures in Photoshop. I have been using them in my phone but with the move and the baby...well, it's still been a challenge to find some "me" time that doesn't involve me collapsing on a soft seat somewhere. But the other day my usual email from Kim Klassen arrived with a pretty new texture. The email sent me over to her "Cafe" and I was, as usual, inspired to create something. The Cafe is also where this week's Texture Tuesday is being hosted. The theme for this week's challenge is "The Color White". At first I tried using an image of a white shell, then a white wall. After some experimenting I decided to go a different avenue - instead of using an image of something that is white I used a washed out image and edited to have a feel of the color white.
For me, fog, bright light...anything that washes away perspective becomes that beautiful blank part of the canvas. Sometimes it's that white that seems to draw more attention than the actual subject itself. I always think of this image when I think of being led into the shot by the color white. But for texture Tuesday I wanted to try something new. Below, you can see the before and after. To the left you can see the steps {as well as the names of the textures I used} that I took to create the image.
If you haven't already subscribed to her email list you should definitely think about doing so, especially if you enjoy working with textures. You get a new {free} goody every week that never fails to inspire.

Okay - so I love this one too. All that space to draw you in. Texture adds another painterly dimension.
