This and That

So I have had another long break from blogging...time seems to move at a rapid pace these days. But lots of fun (and cute) stuff has occurred since the last post. I guess I haven't written anything for June and even the end of May so I'm gonna post date some posts and get back in the game.

Most of the beginning of June was spent...well, besides baby excitement, thinking about my dad. His birth date was on the 7th of this month and well, I guess being around Twila has only intensified my longing for his company. It seems like he's been gone a lot longer than he has. But really, I have never felt closer to my family. My mom and Pachy in particular. It's been fabulous living in the age of the internet. Skype is the BEST! Otherwise, Twila and I have done a lot of hanging out, have gone on some really nice walks, have gotten to spend time with pals from out of town... it's been nice. Baby is doing well. I still feel really lucky.

On the Twila front, she is starting to chat it up and hold things. She recognizes some voices and faces...It's especially nice in the morning to be greeted with a big smile. She's sleeping great and pushing off with her legs, holding her head high, and liking other people's company. She seems to even like some independent time with her favorite stuffed animals too. Oh, and many, many photos...

Thanks for reading!

Walking and sunglasses

We've been able to take some really nice walks around Ijams lately. It's been pretty hot and humid the last few weeks so early mornings and evenings have been the best times. The greenway at the Nature Center is so pretty at those times-lots of birds and wildflowers. Plus, we have had the whole trail to ourselves! Very peaceful...

On our last walk Twila was finally able to fit into her first sunglasses...very cute. (Thanks again to Stephanie W.) She didn't seem to mind wearing them at all and was too cooool for school...

I love Skype

Wow...what an age I live in! The other day I spoke with my mom in CA, my aunt in Chile, and my brother in Scotland...for free...with video. I "phoned" Mom the other day and put her in the crib with TR while I did some things in the other room. I could hear her singing ItsyBitsySpider to her. The baby was at peace, able to see my mom, safe, smiling...it was awesome.

So then last week I put Pachy in the crib with her. She sang a lullaby that put TR to sleep! Gotta love the Skype! What was even funnier was when I entered the room again to see her asleep I could hear Nolfa in the background telling Pachy to whisper because Twila was sleeping. They were just going to hang out and watch her sleep. A few weeks of chatting with them everyday has been fun for Twila and for me too... Plus, what a great way to stay involved in her life.
video Doug's dad now got on the band wagon and is able to recite a story in the mornings to her and to repeat the formula for Pi to keep that in her thoughts. I think he may hope that the formula for Pi is one of her first words.

It's also been a nice way to stay in touch with friends. Seeing each others faces and just sitting and chatting like that is even more personal than a phone call. Being so far away from my favorite people is less difficult with this modern technology. Plus, getting to share things like a picture on the wall, a new room decoration, twila talking, sharing a beer with a pal...it really is very special.
